چکیده

A stochastic radio channel model (SRCM) for broadband indoor mobile systems operating at 5.2 and 17 GHz has been derived within the ACTS project AC085 Magic WAND. The SRCM was designed to accurately describe the time, frequency, direction, and polarization dispersive characteristic of real radio channels because these effects are important for the design of advanced receiver structures incorporating space diversity techniques or adaptive antennas. Such techniques are essential for Magic WAND and also for other future broadband mobile communication systems. The wideband SRCM takes into account all relevant propagation effects observed in real indoor environments. For example, it includes transitions describing emerging and vanishing propagation paths as well as the delay drifts of the multipath components when the mobile station travels through the coverage area of a cell. In the paper, the modeling approach adopted for the SRCM is briefly described together with a discussion on the main model features and a presentation of example simulation results.

A stochastic multipath channel model including path directions for indoor environments

A novel stochastic channel model for the indoor propagation channel is presented. It is especially for, but not limited to future communication systems with multiple antennas like space division multiple access (SDMA), spatial filtering for interference reduction (SFIR), or multiple-input/multiple-output (MIMO). The model is designed for indoor scenarios, straight forward extendable to urban en...

A Survey of Fading Models for Mobile Radio Channel Characterization

Future 3G and 4G mobile communication systems will be required to support wide range of data rates and quality of service matrix. For the efficient design of data link and transport protocols system designer needs knowledge of the statistical properties of physical layer. Studies have shown that without proper characterization of the channel, blind application of existing protocols and transmis...

Multi-Dimensional Wideband Radio Channel Characterisation for 2-6 GHz Band

Future wireless communication systems employ higher carrier frequencies and wider bandwidths than the 2G/3G systems. Moreover, dual-polarised antenna arrays will most probably be employed for improved coverage and higher data rates. As a result multi-dimensional knowledge of the mobile radio channel with fine resolution becomes available for adaptive utilisation of the channel capacity. At the ...

Subspace-based tracking of multipath channel parameters for CDMA systems

In this paper, we evaluate several issues in the application of subspace based methods to tracking channel parameters in Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) communication systems, in the presence of multipath fading. We focus on two aspects of the problem the performance of Singular Value Decomposition (SVD) based schemes while tracking the time variations in the signal subspace, due to fading...
